Lasertech Environmental Policy Statement
Lasertech UK Limited, has been trading for 14 years, and is one of the few real manufacturers of Printer Consumables in the UK. Our products are manufactured to ISO 9001:2000 standards using the same methodology as Canon & HP, ensuring new and used parts are contained in our products.

LRP The LRP is an integral part of our business, recovering; reusing and recycling printer cartridges. The majority of 'recycling schemes' many PLC's subscribe to, are actually operated by brokers on behalf of charities, with very little of the money raised going to the charities themselves. Lasertech is committed to conducting its business in an ethical and socially responsible manner, buying and collecting cartridges from consumers, giving them the option of how much they want to donate to charity.

Our environmental goals are to increase the knowledge, acceptance and usage of Lasertech products throughout the UK. To achieve these goals, the company has established the following Environmental Policy. All employees and franchisees are expected to support implementation of this Policy:

Product Design and Production
Lasertech design products and services to meet or exceed OEM specifications, be safe to use, minimise use of hazardous materials, energy and other resources. We encourage and educate customers to enable the recovery and reuse of products and raw materials, an example of this is labelling all products that can be recovered and making the return of these products a simple and easy process.

Pollution/Waste Prevention
Lasertech aim to reduce waste and the pollution it causes. Our business was founded on recover, reuse and recycling; and everyday we educate others to do the same.

Legislation Changes
Lasertech are and always will be active in the education of customers on legislators regarding our products and how they should be recovered, reused and recycled.

Legal Compliance
Lasertech will ensure our products and operations comply with applicable environmental regulations and requirements in the UK and EU.

Lasertech Compliance with Legislation
The Legislation affecting and governing Printer Consumables and their disposal in the UK are;

1. The Environmental Protection Act 1990
If you presently use Printer Cartridges and do not dispose of them using a licensed carrier, like Lasertech, you could be breaking the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

If only a single empty cartridge is disposed of to a third party who does not poses a licence you are liable to an unlimited fine. It is the responsibility of every company that disposes of Printer Cartridges, to obtain and hold a copy of their collectors licence, and have documented evidence of 'Waste Transfer' notes.

Lasertech hold the correct licences issued by The Environment Agency specific to our industry. This covers waste: Storage, Collection, Recovery, Transportation, Reuse and Recycling.

2. The WEEE Directive (2002/960EC)
The WEEE directive recognises the importance of competition and consumer choice and that the environment should not suffer due to commercial profiteering or ignorance on the part of OEM's and their customers.

The European Commission has only recently passed the Directive, (13/02/03), to confront issues concerning the increasing number of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

The WEEE Directive aims-
to minimise waste from electrical and electronic equipment
to encourage re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of electronic and electrical equipment
to minimise the environmental and health risks associated with using hazardous substances in the production, treatment and disposal of such equipment

By August 13th 2004 it will be illegal to throw away your Used Cartridges.

How can Lasertech Help you?
Your organisation probably already measures waste streams across its business but does this include printer consumables?

LRP Lasertech provide a solution to printer consumable waste and enable you to donate part of the money raised/saved to one of our nominated National Charities; The Princes' Trust or Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Lasertech also have local charity partners who are ideal recipients of donations through the LRP.

If your organisation already has a group-wide collection programme operated by a licensed company, then Lasertech will be able to exceed the terms of this agreement while providing an excellent service.

If your organisation does not have a group-wide coordinated programme then Lasertech can tailor one to suit your operational requirements. At the same time we will operate within current and future legislation and donate part of the money raised/saved to charity.

The Lasertech service includes the supply and collection of LRP Bins. This enables the waste to be stored in accordance with Health& Safety requirements as well as meeting the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
